Solo
Performance Series

As the leaves drop, the stage heats up. Autumn Embers is a six-week solo performance series for experienced polers ready to deepen the impression they leave on stage, supported by musicality and concept development workshops plus a performance journal to track your growth. The series closes with a produced show at Artemis on Sunday, November 22.

Past shows

The moment you're training for

Our shows at Artemis Whiskey Bar in Market Square: an intimate room, a professional crew, and an audience that came to celebrate you. Autumn Embers is about that stage.

The full cast gathered around the pole after a show, smiling together
Dancers moving together on the floor at Artemis under red and blue light, arms raised overhead
The lighting operator at the board in the dark, lit red and blue, watching the stage

Is this for you?

What you'll need coming in

  • Stage experience. You have performed for an audience before, in any style or context. This series assumes you already know what it feels like to be looked at.
  • Consistent pole training. You are training regularly and can develop a piece on your own between check-ins, without choreography handed to you.
  • Rehearsal time you can actually protect. Your 4 class credits cover Gather and Opens. Most of the building happens outside of that.
  • A piece of music you are willing to live inside for six weeks.
  • Your performance footwear, if heels are part of what you are making.

Not there yet? Keep training with us in drop-in classes and apply for a future series — this one comes back around.

The commitment

What we'll ask of you

  • All five dates. Oct 4, Oct 25, Nov 8, Nov 15, Nov 22. Tech and show cannot flex.
  • Something to show on Oct 25. Even if it is thirty seconds and you hate it. The feedback slot only works if there is a piece in it.
  • A closer-to-finished version on Nov 8.
  • The performance journal, kept as you go. It is a record of what you tried, not homework to backfill the night before.
  • Rehearsal between check-ins. Three Sundays in the room will not carry a solo on its own.
  • Your tech needs in writing by Nov 15. Music file, lighting notes, props, entrance.
  • Attention on everyone else's fifteen minutes. You are an audience for the other soloists, and they are yours.
